MARIE BEISER
16th President
1997 - 1998
As president I think of my establishing the Investment Committee to look into the future investments of our savings
as one of the accomplishments of my tenure. I hope this will enable us to give more scholarships or consider other projects
with our money. Another new idea was to have the Scholarship Fund, "In Memory" and "In Honor"cards advertised in Ed Briefs.
This allows active employees to know that in addition to our already advertised in Memory"cards we were adding the in Honor"
cards.
The other exciting event happening during my presidency was the "Celebration of 25 Years." The May meeting to celebrate
this was very exciting with our video "Changing Times in Education-Experiences, Anecdotes and Personal Memories" produced
by the history and archives committee. Several of our past presidents were in attendance and were photographed for this publication.
Being president of the Gwinnett County Retired Teachers Association is a much easier task because everyone is willing
to serve and really does a great job of whatever he or she have accepted.
